BOWERS DISTRICT OCP MASTER PLAN APPLICATION

The Bowers District redevelopment is being planned for the current site of the Green Thumb Garden Centre and Wholesale Nursery (6261 Hammond Bay Rd) in North Nanaimo. Our vision for the site includes multi-family housing, a village main street, innovative and sustainable design, abundant green spaces, and other community amenities. If approved, the Bowers District Master Plan will form part of the City of Nanaimo’s new Official Community Plan (OCP) and guide future development on the site over the next 25 years. Our master planning process began in early 2020, and our first community information meeting was held in October 2020. Since then, planning and technical work has continued, and an updated Master Plan proposal was submitted to the City in late 2021.
